Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at PhotobucketArirang House is a Korean BBQ restaurant up in Kearny Mesa... Off of Convoy of course. Our dinner came with either sooju or a bottle of beer. We chose the beer because I haven't had sooju before and I didn't want to spit anything out then. So we ended up getting Hite. Whether it's pronounced he-teh or "height" I don't know.

The best ones to me were the typical cabbage, bean sprouts, and another one with Japanese cucumbers I think they were. Another one that stuck out in my mind was one made of raw fish and one with smelt(?). They weren't spicy at all, but still delicious.

I don't remember which dinner we got or what kind of meat it was (not very helpful I know) but I know one set was short rib and the other was marinated. Make sure you eat the unmarinated meat with one of the kimchees because when you breathe out of your nose it smells like feet. That may just be me, though. We also got some stew that had octopus and vegetables in it. Mmmm.

The environment was pretty cool. They had a tv that was playing a laser disc(?) of Michael Jackson's HIStory. I say laser disc, question mark, because I'm not sure if they ever made a DVD of it. It was funny, we watched Mr. Jefferson.. I mean Jackson, classics like Thriller (which to this day is still disturbing to me, Smooth Criminal, and Liberian Girl. Liberian Girl was the best and I hadn't seen it before until then. There were all kinds of "celebrities" of the era in that vid.

The hostess actually cooked our meat for us which we were kind of perplexed about. Cook the marinated meat last is what I learned. The staff was very nice which was unexpected to me, I always expect asians to be stuck up for some reason. It was a great experience... Maybe I should do stars to rate it or something.
